Our Malay Film History, Shaw Brothers & Cathay Keris:

The Singapore Malay Film Society, (SMFS) is a newly minted not-for-profit group. Started out as a Facebook group formed in May 2008 by Volunteers ranging from Professionals to Hobbyist not restricting to any race or culture to support and develop the rapidly growing film industry in Singapore. Regardless of race, we hope to churn out more Malay Films in Singapore.

SMFS aims to: Gather film enthusiasts, contacts & films works. Organize screening events, overseas film trips, competitions & workshops. Market and promote local malay language films and short films.

To educate, identify, nurture, support and promote local talents in film-making.

Who WE want to meet.

If YOU have a film to showcase, let us compile them and we shall help YOU to screen them in our awards screening event - Purnama held once every 2 years.

We want to meet with those who shares the same passion with us and shares the vision to revive the malay film industry in Singapore.

4. To build a database for Directors, Producers, DOPs, Gaffers, Video Editors, Musicians, Actors & Actresses for networking and future job opportunities.
